U.S GIFT TO ISRAEL!!

According to the Israeli daily, Haaretz, the U.S is to give Israel 5,000 new bombs. Among them will be 500 of the huge “bunker busters” of the type the US used in Afghanistan and Iraq. The consignment will also include 2,500 one-ton bombs, 1,00 half-ton bombs and 500 quarter-ton bombs. Can these be seen as the weapons of mass destruction that the coalition have been searching for in the Middle East?
The “bunker buster” bombs are seen as a direct threat to Iran as they can penetrate 15 feet of concrete and are therefore the weapon of choice for destroying Iran’s nuclear industry. Israel has not been slow in the past to attack her Middle East neighbours. In 1981 Israel bombed an Iraqi nuclear reactor with no thought to the possible nuclear contamination to the area.
This is an obvious escalation by the imperialist West to continue its domination of the oil rich area. A show that lets the Middle East countries know that the West will do what it takes to stay in control of the area and its resources.
The “gift” is scheduled to be delivered just after the U.S. Election. It is of course being called a sale worth $319 million. However, since the U.S. makes the money and the arms readily available to Israel it can hardly be called a sale. The money for the “SALE” will come from the U.S. Military aid to Israel, its policeman in the Middle East, the largest recipient of such aid in the world.
This deal should be seen for what it is, an indication of more violence to be heaped on the innocent people of the Middle East. It is up to the forces for peace to be aware and organise well in advance of the impending onslaught. The challenges that lie ahead for the anti-war movement throughout the world should be seen as urgent and most certainly very, very real.

HOLLOW APOLOGY.
So, at the Labour Party conference Blair apologised for the intelligence on Iraq being wrong. It seems that he is good at apologising for other people’s mistakes but not his own. Of course everybody knows that the intelligence on Iraq was correct, it was his selective interpretation and his spin on that intelligence that was wrong. His cherry picking the intelligence to make the evidence suit his chosen course of action. No doubt this was done to keep his promise to Buddy Bush. He also said that he does not apologise for toppling Saddam, and the world is a safer place because Saddam is now in prison. What part of the world is he looking at, is he talking about Iraq itself? If so he has a perverted sense of humour or is completely out of touch with what is going on on the ground in that country or just plain lying for political gain. Prior to the illegal invasion of Iraq it was safe to say that Iraq was not an exporter of “terrorists “ activity, Nobody would even hint at that being the case today, except perhaps the Christian nutter duet Bush and Blair. The other point is HE did not topple Saddam, it was the ordinary people in uniform that he sent in to do the brutal and bloody work while he sat safe and sound in his well guarded no.10. We should always remember, leaders lie and the electorate must always be aware of the unbridled arrogance of the elected.
